"We watched
our cows real closely on the computer when we started using POSILAC
last spring. We saw an 8-10 pound response right away. But, we figured
we'd see a real drop once the heat and humidity hit.
"We looked.
We looked again And every two weeks after that we kept looking some
more. Every time we went over our records the cows on POSILAC were
still milking as good as they were before."
Nancy and Mick
German own Hy-Mic Dairy, a 250 cow operation in Cushing, Oklahoma.
"Usually we
have a slump during the heat. You expect them to drop at least 5
or 6 pounds. With POSILAC the cows held real solid right through
the summer.
"The cows on
POSILAC seemed to eat more. Our nutritionist couldn't believe how
much dry matter we were getting through the cows. With the feeding
program he helped us put in place we had no problem with body condition.
The cows bred back and stayed healthy.
"Making milk
during the summer is tough. Making money is even tougher. If POSILAC
wasn't profitable, we wouldn't be using it. For us, anything over
5 pounds is profit."
